A Vision for Reaching the World from New York City through Church Planting • Evangelism • Discipleship
Dear Pastor or Mission Director,
Thank you for allowing me to send you my packet of information. I hope the enclosed information will answer any questions you may have. However, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me or my personal references at the bottom of the page.
I was saved the night my mom took her Bible and showed me that I was a sinner and the only way to Heaven was through the Blood of Jesus Christ. So, at five years of age, I put my faith and trust in the Lord Jesus to save me from my sins, and I have been eternally secure ever since. I grew up faithfully in church and have served in the following capacities: door to door visitation, usher, vacation Bible school, Sunday school teacher, substitute preaching, and took care of the missionary bulletin board and kept the church informed about our missionaries. I count it a privilege to have served the Lord through my local independent Baptist church.
Before deputation I was a Deputy Sheriff for seven years. After my first two years, I was promoted to shift leader. As a shift leader, I became responsible for training those who were assigned to my shift as well as the safe running of the facility. After training a few deputies, I was chosen to be the training officer and trained most of the new hires that came to the agency and was often asked about their progress. During this time, I created training materials that are still in use today. During my last six months, I became the acting jail supervisor and held that position until I resigned in May of 2009.
While at the Sheriff’s Office, I went to Victory Baptist College for my Bible training. This is a ministry of Victory Baptist Church in Hampton, VA where local pastors come and teach Bible classes. I graduated from Victory in May of 2009.
Also while I was at the Sheriff’s Office, my sending church, Hunterdale Baptist Church in Franklin, VA sponsored a men’s work team to Romania in April of 2008. It was during this mission trip that the Lord burdened my heart to be more involved in missions. After some deputation work, my wife and I in 2011 did a six month internship in Romania which included a 3-month furlough relief. When our time in Romania was finished, we were invited by Missionaries Adam and Brandie Crabtree to join them as a team in a new church planting effort in New York City. We relocated to New York City by faith under-supported to join them as a team. On January 1, 2012, we had our very first church service. Our ministry offers free English classes to the community twice a week, once on Sunday nights before church and once on Monday nights, where we have use of the local public school library for one hour. we also do street outreach several times a week, which has resulted in at least one soul being saved. He will soon begin a discipleship course.
We would be honored to come and present the Lord’s work in New York City to you and your church family. Thank you for your time and consideration. God bless!
Sincerely,
Will Vinson
